Below Ground on Tour in the USA

Below Ground is a song cycle for baritone voice and piano which was commissioned by the Welsh baritone, Jeremy Huw Williams, as part of the Welsh Music Guild's prestigious Paul Mealor Award For Young Composers. The song-cycle responds to the theme of reportage', and sets historical texts and poems of miners throughout history.

The song cycle is in four movements, which sets speeches and poems of King George VI, and miners from Wales and Cornwall. It is also dedicated to my Grandfather, who was a welsh miner turned opera singer.
